Laura Balayan

32 years old, Director

Laura Balayan is the director of “Sewing Hope for Armenia” and was there in the beginning of the company’s creation. When we asked Laura how she would describe the company she had one sentence, she answered using three biblical virtues. Laura has several professions, but her major is psychology, which helps her in her day to day interactions with “Sewing Hope for Armenia”.

As you know, our organization started during very difficult times for Armenia. As an Armenian, it was important for me to help people affected by the disaster of war. After long deliberations and consultations with my friends, we decided to create something through which our beneficiaries should receive not one time but permanent support, and guided by that idea, we decided to open a sewing workshop.

We have overcome many difficulties at first, but the hope we were going to give our compatriots who were affected by the war filled us and everything worked well.

Looking back, I can say that wet eyes of women working in “Sewing Hope for Armenia” became full of hope and optimism with time.

Almost every day we get calls asking for employment, our desire is very big to help everyone, but the opportunities are unfortunately limited. In order to continue, develop and create new jobs for this important initiative, we need your support.
