Shushanik Aghajanyan

“My name is Shushanik Aghajanyan and I have three minor children. Like everyone else, I want my children to live in peace. But war creates a disturbing reality and a foggy future. If everyone was fair and honest to others, the world would be a much better place” — says the cheerful and hardworking Shushanik, a young mother of many children.

From the very first days of “Sewing Hope for Armenia”, she joined our team and worked as a coordinator. Shushanik is a seamstress and has been doing it for many years, but lost her job during the coronavirus epidemic. “Sewing Hope for Armenia” did not let Shushanik go without support.

There was a turning point in everyone’s life after the war: life was divided into two parts: before the war and after the war. Before the war, I looked at life more calmly; after the war, I realized that no one was safe, in every country, for different reasons, the happy state called peace could be broken.

A few days after the war began, I heard from my relatives that their children were being drafted to the frontier. My peace of mind was in turmoil. As much as I could, I tried to be helpful, helping to send food to our soldiers and helping with the accommodation of refugees. The war made me realize that the injustice of this world was too great to change.

The greatest strength in my life for overcoming hardship was and still is hope. Before joining “Sewing Hope for Armenia”, I worked in an atelier, but I lost my job after the coronavirus pandemic. Taking care of my three minor children was a life necessity for me, and “Sewing Hope for Armenia” supported me in my time of need.

In this sewing community I learned to trust people, to respect and to be honest. This project gave me a hope. Despite the hardships of life, never hurt people, always spread goodness and that goodness will come back to you.
