Safe YOU was recognised in June of 2021 as a Digital Public Good as set by the United Nations Secretary General’s 2020 Roadmap for Digital Cooperation. Accordingly, Safe YOU contributes to the attainment of the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs, specifically the SDG 5, Gender Equality.
Our mission is to create and maintain a virtual safe space where women are able to seek out help from their community, in a secure and supportive environment. We aim to enhance all existing solutions rather than replace them and to bring this solution to women from all over the world, from all walks of life. We dream of a day where Safe YOU will no longer be a necessary application for women but until that day we will continue to work to help protect, educate and empower women all around the world.
Our supporters include United Nations Population Fund, The World Bank Group, European Union, Government of the Republic of Armenia, The Embassy of the Netherlands in Armenia, Sexual Violence Research Initiative, Enterprise Incubator Foundation, and Impact Hub Yerevan.
Since 2019 we have worked hard with IT sector professionals and GBV experts to design a mobile application that would become an effective tool in the fight against GBV, and we continue to develop the App and Platform, to improve the solution. While creating and constantly developing the App we have scaled up our project converting it into a social enterprise with the main goal of empowering women, enhancing their safety and transforming the quality of their lives. We believe that community building through knowledge sharing and mutual support is key to the fight against GBV and to the empowerment of women. We emphasise the importance of our discussion boards (Forums) for this reason as it facilitates community engagement and support by connecting women with each other and resources. We are grateful to our partner NGOs, individuals, International and governmental organisations for their involvement and service, this solution is possible due to the collaboration of many and not the work of few.
